Humility and gratitude are essential to being grounded as a leader. We all seem to have a tendency to reinforce our own sense of self-importance and irreplaceability. The truth is in most victories there is a collective will and effort that has created it. This is also true for our failures of thought and action as well. Reviewing a gratitude list each day helps keep us in balance to see all the good in our lives, relationships and work. Having a peer group to honestly assess our shortcomings and limitations helps to realistically accept responsibility and resolve to be better. The key to sustainable and lasting impact is the steadiness resulting from these virtues. -Dave Ramey
